Founded in 1994, SouthCare Cremation Society (formerly Cremation Society of the SOUTH) was established to give members an alternative to the high-cost and impersonal approach offered by most funeral homes. Today SouthCare is the leading provider of cremation services in Georgia. Personalized attention, affordability, and transparency are our watchwords and the qualities that have earned the trust of over 12,000 Protected Lifetime Members.
SouthCare Cremation Society allows members to document their final wishes with ease and simplicity, including a detailed description of the desired honoring or memorial service. Membership forms are protected and kept on file at the Cremation Society offices until needed. At the time of death, the member's documented wishes are given to the family or next-of-kin. Our process helps the family feel confident in carrying out their loved one's wishes and avoid unnecessary additional services that were not chosen by the member. Members in the society also receive regular communications regarding their society benefits and related issues.
A Protected Lifetime Membership™ begins the documentation process. There is a one-time membership fee of $25 for one person or $30 per couple.
Unlike many traditional funeral homes, we have owned and operated our own crematory since our founding in 1994. SouthCare staff members are certified crematory operators and funeral directors. Most funeral homes rely on third-party operators to cremate for them, causing additional transportation charges, safety concerns and needless delay. At SouthCare, you can feel comfortable in the knowledge that your relative will be cared for with the utmost dignity and respect while remaining in our care.
Society members come from all social, religious, and economic backgrounds. Our funeral directors are experienced in conducting humanistic services as well as religious services for Catholics, Protestants (United Methodists, Baptists, Unitarian-Universalists and Episcopalians, etc...), Hindus, Buddhists, and Reformed Jews who choose cremation.
