In most cases, the next business day after the passing, one of our funeral directors schedules an arrangement conference with the legal next-of-kin. This time together is an important opportunity for us to learn about your relative—hobbies, profession, activities, passions, and the life he or she shared with family and friends. Our conversation will guide us as we help you to create a meaningful tribute that best reflects, honors, and celebrates your loved one's life and contributions.
In addition to arranging a personal tribute, the funeral director will gather information to complete three important documents:
In addition to the information needed for the death certificate, you may bring clothing, dentures, a photo showing the typical hairstyle and coloring for cosmetic purposes, and a photo to be used in the obituary (online and in print). Clothing usually consists of the normal garments that your loved one would wear, including undergarments. High-collared, high-neckline, and long-sleeved blouses or shirts are recommended. Socks and shoes are optional.
Some families also bring personal items, such as letters, poems and photos, to be placed with the loved one prior to cremation or upon burial.
If you have already selected a memorial plan that includes a DVD Life Video, please bring the desired photos with you so that our production staff can begin the process of digitizing and producing.
